Lead Veterinarian - Pascoe Vale Veterinary Hospital, Melbourne!

Are you an experienced veterinarian who enjoys supporting others, bringing a team together and helping create a clinic where people genuinely enjoy coming to work?

At Pascoe Vale Veterinary Hospital, we’re looking for our next Lead Veterinarian! When it comes to Leadership, you don’t have to be the most advanced clinician in the room! What’s important is that you want the best for the team around you, the patients and the clinic.

You’ll be joining an experienced, collaborative team of vets who enjoy sharing knowledge, discussing cases and supporting one another.

We’re particularly proud of our very low staff turnover. Some of our reception team and our Practice Manager have been with the clinic for more than 20 years.

Our current Lead Veterinarian has also been part of Pascoe Vale for many years and is making a change to be closer to home. It means you’ll be stepping into an established clinic with good foundations, but you’ll always be able to share new ideas, be part of discussions. Implement change and be involved in decisions.

Leadership & support

Being a Lead Vet doesn’t mean doing everything yourself.

Alongside your wonderful Practice Manager and lovely clinic team, you’ll help shape the clinical direction, support and mentor your fellow vet team and continue building the positive culture already in place.

You’ll also have:

  • Regular support and catchups with Vet Manager - Dr Emma Christie
  • Dedicated Lead Vet meetings with other Lead Vets across Victoria
  • A wider network of veterinary leaders to collaborate with and learn from
  • Leadership development and training + Veterinary Training Centre courses
  • The opportunity to influence clinical standards, team development and how your clinic operates

You’ll have the autonomy to lead locally, with the support of a much larger veterinary network behind you across Australia & New Zealand.

A roster designed to make veterinary medicine sustainable

We want our vets to have the time to practice good medicine and leave work on time.

Choose between 30 - 38 hours per week, with:

  • 1 in 3 Saturdays, 8am–1pm and no Sundays & public holiday work
  • 1.5 hours protected every day from 1pm–2:30pm for lunch, pathology calls, medication requests and case discussions
  • Additional vet breaks throughout the day
  • Depending on your preference, 1 - 2 surgery days
  • Generally, 20-minute general appointments & 30-minute appointments for more complex cases
  • Regular clinic and vet meetings to discuss cases, standards of care and new developments

Plenty of variety, with the equipment to back you!

From preventative healthcare through to complex medical cases and surgery, you’ll continue to be hands-on clinically while developing your leadership career.

Our spacious, purpose-built hospital includes three consulting rooms, a dedicated theatre, large preparation and dental areas, as well as:

  • Dental radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Electrocautery
  • IDEXX in-house blood machines
  • SediVue
  • Tono-Pen

Additional learning & development benefits that’s only offered by our network!

As part of VetPartners, you’ll have access to our purpose-built Veterinary Training Centre (VTC) in Keilor Park.

The VTC provides dedicated seminar facilities and wet-lab spaces for practical, hands-on training - giving you opportunities to continue developing both your clinical and leadership skills throughout your career.

CPD Allowance + Paid study leave – up to $2000 allowance per annum which also rolls over into your second year, you also get up to 1 week study leave.

You’ll also receive a range of benefits including generous CPD support and study leave, leadership training, pet-care discounts, Fitness Passport, wellbeing support and EAP, novated leasing, salary packaging and hundreds of retail discounts.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Hold a BVSc or equivalent and are registered to practice in Australia
  • Have over 6+ years of GP veterinary experience
  • Enjoy supporting, mentoring and bringing out the best in others
  • Value high-quality patient care and strong client relationships
  • Enjoy collaborating and discussing cases with your colleagues
  • Bring a positive, approachable leadership style

Your leadership journey!
If you’re an experienced veterinarian who has considered leadership but wondered whether you’re quite “ready”, we’d love to hear from you. Leadership looks different for everyone, and we’re happy to have a conversation about what the next step could look like for you.

Already a Lead Vet, Head Vet or Veterinary Director? We would love to connect and explore what you’re looking for next, or how this opportunity could align!

Contact Pri from our Careers Team on 0452 321 447 or priyanka.kumari@vetpartners.com.au.

You can also send through your CV and we’ll be in touch.

Lead a great team without giving up the parts of veterinary medicine you love.
