Lead Veterinarian | VetWest South Perth

Lead a team. Keep doing the clinical work you love. Make South Perth your next move.

Morning coffee by the Swan River, a walk along the foreshore after work and Perth’s city centre just a short trip away. South Perth offers plenty to enjoy outside the clinic - and an opportunity to take the next step in your career within it.

VetWest South Perth is looking for a Lead Veterinarian who enjoys building relationships, sharing their knowledge and helping a team deliver great patient care.

Whether you’re already leading a clinic or you’re an experienced veterinarian ready to step into leadership, this is an opportunity to bring your clinical experience and ideas to an established small animal practice.

🩺 A clinic where you can make your mark

Our South Perth hospital supports a thriving local community, with a team committed to providing thoughtful care for pets and the people who love them.

With in-house pathology and patient monitoring equipment, you’ll have the tools to support your clinical decisions, alongside opportunities to build lasting relationships with clients through every stage of their pets’ lives.

As Lead Veterinarian, you’ll remain hands-on in consulting and surgery while helping guide the clinic’s clinical standards, team development and day-to-day collaboration.

🤝 Leadership built on connection

Great leadership is about being approachable, creating space for questions and helping the people around you grow.

Working alongside the Practice Manager, you’ll help create an environment where vets and nurses feel heard, supported and confident contributing their skills.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering high-quality veterinary care across consultations, diagnostics, treatment and surgery.

  • Providing clinical guidance and mentoring to your veterinary team.

  • Supporting consistent standards of patient care and clinical best practice.

  • Building strong relationships with clients through clear, compassionate communication.

  • Working with the Practice Manager to support clinic operations and a positive team culture.

  • Encouraging learning, sharing knowledge and helping colleagues develop their confidence.

🌱 You’ll be supported to grow, too

As part of VetPartners, you’ll have support from our Vet Manager and experienced clinical leaders across the wider network.

Whether you’re navigating a leadership challenge, exploring a clinical interest or looking for another perspective on a case, you’ll have people to turn to.

You can look forward to:

  • Competitive remuneration reflecting your experience and leadership responsibilities.

  • $2,000 annual CPD allowance and one week of study leave.

  • Free courses and workshops through our Veterinary Training Centres.

  • Leadership development and career progression opportunities across the VetPartners network.

  • Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship for eligible candidates.

  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program.

🐾 A little about you

You’re an experienced small animal veterinarian who takes pride in your clinical work and understands the value of a strong team.

You’ll bring:

  • A veterinary qualification recognised in Australia and eligibility for registration in Western Australia.

  • Confidence in general practice consultations and routine surgery.

  • Clear communication and a compassionate approach to clients and patients.

  • A collaborative attitude and a willingness to teach, learn and share ideas.

  • An interest in developing people and contributing to the direction of the clinic.

Previous leadership experience is welcome, but we’re also keen to hear from experienced vets ready to take that next step with support.

☀️ Your next chapter, by the river

With the South Perth foreshore, cafés and riverside paths nearby, and easy access to the city, this is a location where you can enjoy Perth life while building a rewarding career.

If you’re looking for a Lead Vet role where you can stay connected to your patients, support your team and help shape the clinic’s future, we’d love to hear from you.
